Mars could have once supported ancient forms of life
New York Times: Mars could have supported ancient forms of life several billion years ago, NASA said Tuesday when discussing the latest findings from the Curiosity rover.
“A fundamental question for this mission is whether Mars could have supported a habitable environment,” said Michael Meyer, lead scientist for NASA. “From what we know now, the answer is yes.”
The findings come from a rock the Curiosity rover drilled into. The results show Mars might have once contained water, while the drilled rock contained minerals that microbes could have eaten for food.
